In 2003, media artist Dermot Wilson met the head of the mathematics Department at Nipissing University in North Bay. That’s when the Pseudoarc project was born.
A project to draw the mathematically undrawable object.
The exhibition, open from August 10 to September 28 at the Timmins Museum: NEC, focuses on circles that are “cosmologies” or circular maps that depict the relationships between abstract thoughts and concepts and real life experience.
Included in the show are several videos all shot in a circular format. One of these videos includes a drone-camera shot of the Goldcorp open pit mine that is located just a few hundred meters from the Museum.
Dermot Wilson will be presenting a talk about his exhibition at the Timmins Museum: NEC at a date to be determined. Please contact the Timmins Museum for more information.
