Martin Foley was born and raised in Montreal. He studied at Loyola College, Ottawa University, and, received his arts specialist in Toronto. He began his teaching career in the Gaspe, Quebec, and then moved to Northern Ontario where he has been teaching art since the early 70’s.
His work has been exhibited in solo shows and numerous juried shows. He has been the recipient of many awards for both painting and drawing.
“The works in this show are inspired by the beauty and boldness of Northern Ontario, its wildlife, geology, lakes, rivers, and it’s historical architecture. The lighting on these works is meant to both isolate and illuminate their grandeur. Our landscape is both precious and inspiring. I continue to marvel at glacial footprints and unique rock formations found in the north.”
