Marvelous minerals such as gold are at the very heart of the city of Timmins and play an important role in some of the objects that we use every day. Students will interact with minerals from the Timmins Museum’s geology collection to discover how minerals come in all shapes, colours and sizes, and use scientific techniques to identify geological specimens. Students will then explore how minerals are found, extracted and refined right here in our city through the use of photographs and artifacts.
